A Game of Team Work & Strategy

the objective of the game

You and your team were on a cruise liner which sank approximately one and a half hours ago at 11.30am in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

You have managed to reach a considerably large piece of timber which is capable of keeping you afloat for several days in good conditions.

Onboard are the items listed below

Otherwise, all you have is the clothes you are wearing, a few coins, a  lighter and an open packet of cigarettes.

Now you must prioritise or rank each item in order of importance to your survival.

Team Exploration FAQ's

A group is a collection of individuals who coordinate their individual efforts. On the other hand, a team is a group of people who share a common team purpose and a number of challenging goals. Members of the team are mutually committed to the goals and to each other.

In terms of successfully completing goals, teams are proven to be more effective because everyone is working interdependently toward a  shared goal or outcome. Unlike in a group setting where each person is working independently, a team project relies on each member of the team to achieve success.

When a team is performing together with their preferred behaviors they will support each other and deliver their best.

By promoting teamwork, team performance will be raised as each member and the leader will have a heightened awareness of the other’s preferred behaviors maximizing effort and minimizing possible conflict or dissonance.

If the leaders are not emotionally intelligent and also aware of their own preferred and least preferred behaviors, they will not be able to best utilize the preferred behaviors of their team. Whereby enabling each team member and developing their strengths or adapting their behaviors for short term periods to enable team success.

It is hugely beneficial as each dimension adds strength to compliment the others. If you have too many members who are in the gold quadrant, for example, you will have a perfect outcome but not on time!

Achievements can be realized, but the relationship may be poor, if the relationships are more than functional the team can reach success together and all benefit plus those on the perimeters. The more cohesive the team is the drive to reach the goals and the strategy will be adaptable to change and all will feel accountable for the success.

Yes, we can, and this can prove very insightful and enhance the future performance of the team. The stakeholders are objective in their feedback which enhances the outcome. Remember it is not only teamwork skills it is also a commitment to team working.
